This article provides an ‘Introduction the Agile Sprint Review and Retrospective’ and looks to discuss what is involved within these meetings. It provides an insight into is the point of the Agile ceremonies and what is involved in them.

Agile Sprint Review and Retrospective

The traditional framework you’re working in right now doesn’t allow for any changes to the processes used for developing products. Aside from the lessons learned session, which you know will be held at the end of the project, there isn’t an opportunity for any active review of whether the project is producing as much value as it possibly could.

You know that if your team continues to build products the same way without making any changes, you’ll be unable to produce as much value as you could. You’re currently wasting time and money, and many of your team members are becoming frustrated with their lack of control of their work methods.

If your team could feel that their opinions and ideas would impact how the product is developed, you would be able to increase the value of the product.

The book starts with an overview into user stories, and details what a user story is and the different aspects of them. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
