The Twelve Agile Principles

A 59 Seconds Agile Article

This article provides an ‘Introduction to the The Twelve Agile Principles‘ and looks to discuss what each or the principles are and what each principle means.

The 12 Agile Principles Conclusion

In summary, the key driver of Agile projects is the frequent delivery of working, lean and quality products on a continuous and ever-improving basis. This is achieved by collaboration between the business and development team, along with the willingness to change requirements to deliver the right product at the right time.

Where a project is not as successful as expected, retrospection will show that one or more of the principles was neglected, especially in customer collaboration and communication. Therefore, it would be beneficial to do periodic checks to determine whether the principles and values are still being observed, and if not, to take swift and appropriate action.

When you’re in the thick of an agile development project, it’s easy to get swept up in the fast-paced, ever-changing environment. But when you forget about the principles, the team and the project start to slip up. Keep these agile principles in mind and you’ll be able to keep your team — and project — on the right track.

User Stories Applied

A 59 Seconds Agile Book Review

User Stories Applied by Mike Cohn is one of our favourite books on Agile User Stories. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
