Demonstrating and Validating the Sprint

A 59 Seconds Agile Article

This article provides an ‘Introduction to Successful Delivery with Scrum’ and looks to discuss the process for Demonstrating and Validating the Sprint

Successful Delivery with Scrum

Your team can also benefit from approaching the project in the mindset of how to maximize the product value. Making sure that you’re always prioritizing the most valuable feature of the product can help your team deliver as much value as possible, as quickly as possible.

With everyone approaching the project thinking about what they can do to add the most value to the product at this moment in time, you’ll be able to work in a unified direction.

Remember, proper preparation leads to the successful delivery of products.

Finally, consider what your team’s mindset is when you don’t succeed on a project. While this isn’t what anyone hopes will happen, approaching it with an open mind can help improve your successes in the future.

In order to move ahead in your development process, your team will need to experiment with different ways and methods of working. Sometimes these experiments don’t work out, but rather than giving up, this gives your team valuable information.

One of the foundations of scrum is the continuous improvement involved in refining your team’s working process. By refining your process a little bit with each project you take on, your team will be capable of producing more and more value.

The more flexible your process is, the easier it will be for your team to adapt to new projects and developments that emerge.

Remember, proper preparation leads to the successful delivery of products.

Making sure you have the right tools at your disposal, including communication channels, mindsets, planning, and equipment, ensures that your team is set up for success from the beginning of the project.

User Stories Applied

A 59 Seconds Agile Book Review

User Stories Applied by Mike Cohn is one of our favourite books on Agile User Stories. The book starts with an overview into user stories, and details what a user story is and the different aspects of them. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
